18 Aug Double Bill: Wallflower and Kai-Mei
I have come here to confess: I have been a very bad blogger! I’ve gotten behind in my sock posting, and now I have two pairs to show you. Right down to business: here we go!
Socks Number 11: Wallflower by Stephanie van der Linden, available from Twist Collective, and knit with Fortissima Socka. My first colourwork socks! And while there were a few road bumps along the way, I’m very pleased with the end result. This is the second pair in the challenge that are designed by Stephanie van der Linden – I LOVE her designs, and I’m extremely excited for her new book – in English! – coming out next month (you can be sure I’ll be posting when that one arrives!)
Socks Number 12: Kai-Mei by Cookie A., from her book Sock Innovation, knit with Misti Alpaca’s Handpainted sock in “Senta”. These are pretty quick to knit, considering the whole leg is just ribbing. I love patterns that make socks mirror-images of each other, and this is one of Cookie A.’s most iconic mirror-image designs.
The detail is easier to see here:
Now I’m working away on pair #13, hoping to finish them by next week. Then pair #14 – the last pair! – though I’m having a bit of trouble with those. I had chosen yarn and a pattern in a book… and then I sold the book. The last copy. No problem, I’ll just order another? Well, apparently not, because it’s out of stock!! That was the pair I was going to do for #12, so I’ve just put it off, hoping that sometime in the next week the book arrives.
Finally, in shop news, the Fall 2010 Knitting Class Schedule is UP!! You can find it on the store website here. Unlike previous sessions, we are now requiring participants to register and pay in advance to reserve their spot in the class, so we can know ahead of time how many participants to expect. Each class or workshop is capped at six people, so register early!
