29 Aug Marie Antoinette!
Can you believe it? Pair number Thirteen!!
One of my favourite things about this pattern is the detail down the back:
This little motif goes all the way down the heel, and is called “Honeybee”; the pattern on the rest of the leg is “Beehive”! These socks feature my most significant mistake of all of the socks I’ve made for the challenge – the “Beehive” pattern is staggered, except for one spot on the top of the foot of the first sock where it’s aligned. I haven’t blocked these socks yet because I haven’t decided yet if I’m going to rip it back and fix it!
And I am not ashamed to admit that I *did* match my clothes to this pair of socks when I knew I’d be finishing them…
So, the final pair of the Summer of Socks Challenge is underway, but I’m keeping the specs under wraps for now (figuratively and literally – I’m working a short-row heel right now. Get it? Wraps? oh, knitting puns)… However, I will be at tomorrow night’s Kniterary Night at the Peterborough Public Library (7-9 p.m.), so you might catch a glimpse of them there!
