“September slipped by into a gold and crimson graciousness of October”…
– Lucy Maud Montgomery, Anne of Avonlea
Can you believe it’s October already? And Thanksgiving in point of fact! Ah yes, the prime knitting season is now upon us, and I’ve been busily knitting away, working on samples for the store and some little irresistable items for myself, too.
There’s lots of new and exciting things in the shop, like this:
The Inspiration Station! We are now carrying single leaflet patterns from designers like Stephen West, Connie Chang Chinchio, and my favourite, Ysolda Teague. This will also be where new and exciting items will be displayed first before settling into the shelves. Also here is my first sweater sample for the season, the Cloisonne Jacket from the latest Interweave Knits:
As soon as I saw this little sweater I knew I wanted to knit it. The design combines a lace detail and stranded colourwork with a worsted weight yarn – an uncommon combo! Plus, it was designed for Berroco’s Ultra Alpaca, a 50/50 wool/alpaca blend that is a recent addition to the shop.
Here’s Interweave Knits Fall 2010, Interweave Weekend Fall 2010, and Interweave Crochet Fall 2010. The Knits has several delectable sweaters in it, it’s very nicely compiled issue.
And one of my favourite sock designers, Stephanie van der Linden (who designed the Laeticia and Wallflower socks featured in the Summer of Socks Challenge), has released a new book in English called “Around the World in Knitted Socks”, featuring some stunning stranded colourwork patterns. Can’t wait to start some of those!
We’ve also received some ever-delectable yarns from Tanis Fiber Arts. Pictured above are the Purple Label Cashmere-blend skeins. Below are the Fiddlehead Mitten and Dipped Infinity Scarf kits:
And a brand new project by Tanis herself, note cards with fiber in focus: each pack contains four different cards each featuring a high quality photo of yarn or fiber from aroung the Tanis Fiber Arts headquarters… So gorgeous!
As is our custom around here, we will be closed this Sunday for the turkey weekend festivities! Have a great holiday everyone!
