Dispatches from the Knitter's Frolic

We went, we saw, we squeezed, and then we were tired. A photo recap:

8 a.m. First stop? Starbucks!

Knitterly friend Sasha takes the wheel…

9:30 a.m. We arrive to a lineup out the door. No one warned us that first thing in the morning is the CRAZIEST TIME. We squeezed ourselves in to squeeze oodles of yarn…

We met people and friends, Tanis of Tanis Fiber Arts, then found camera-shy Kim from Indigodragonfly

and then Glenna was there! We had many a camera-faceoff, NIKON VS CANON…

synchronize your watches! Knitters and their gadgets…

At this point, there was a flurry of shopping and visiting and talking and hellos and nice-to-meet-yous. You may or may not know that I don’t deal very well with crowds, so I didn’t take many photos (all focus was on trying not to hyperventilate or pass out. Really.)

We bailed on the Frolic shortly after noon, hangry knitters  are unhappy knitters (hangry = hungry+angry, when you’re hungry to the point of general indecisive crankiness). Time to jaunt downtown!

During a pitstop at Rebecca‘s house, I took advantage of her hallway mirror to take a quick outfit photo. I wore two new knits, finished just in time for Frolic – a navy half-sleeve Agnes pullover and yellow Clothilde shawlette…

Headed down the street, waited for burgers with the company of CocaColas and Japanese stitch dictionaries, as one does…

Then headed even further downtown to the Workroom, my favourite sewing/fabric shop. They had a class going on so I didn’t want to take photos inside, but it’s super great in there, you should really check it out…

Here’s Sasha showing off her fat-quarter haul…

And, of course, photo evidence of my own spoils… A skein of Caper Sock by String Theory in “Pewter” and two skeins of Sheldridge Farms’ DK weight in “Marsh Marigold”, typical grellow representation:

And from the Workroom, a fat quarter of Lizzy House’s “Outfoxed” in the Yellow scheme, a pack of crafty sticky notes from textile designer Lotta Jansdotter, and a laser-cut cross-stitch pendant blank…

Needless to say, I slept many many hours after such an eventful day. Get on the Downtown Knit Collective‘s mailing list for updates for next year!

So jealous of that pendant blank! I’m excited to see what you do with it.

Jealous times 100. Especially ’cause you got to see Buffy’s stuff (I miss living way close to Shelridge farms, and Wellington Fibres) (sigh). I really am going some year (but I think I want to take classes).
