24 Jul Wednesday Sundries
Arrived at the shop this morning to discover new bike lock-ups all along Water Street! Take your bike for a ride downtown and come visit me! 🙂
Some new items in the shop this week, including the new Knitscene and Piecework magazines, a couple new books (including Kristen TenDyke’s “Finish-Free Knits” shown here), ballwinders and swifts, and needlefelting needles and foam worksurfaces!
This is also the week of Dusk Dances!! I have my last rehearsal tonight and then performances Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evenings at 7 p.m. in Rotary Park. The piece that I’m in, “Incandescent”, features two dozen local dancers as well as five professional dancers from Toronto. Admission is by donation, it is child- and dog-friendly, bring chairs or blankets to sit upon, though each of the four pieces is site-specific, meaning that the audience moves to the location in the park of the next piece, so don’t bring anything you don’t want to have to lug around with you! Because the rain date (if two of the performances are rained-out) is Sunday afternoon, the Color Affection KAL meetup has been changed to the evening of Wednesday, July 31st, 7-9 p.m.
I was going to post a video clip of Incandescent, but I think you should really just come see it in person. Instead, here’s promo clip of some lovely beachside dancing by two members of the New York City Ballet to a piece of music by one of my favourite musicians, Sufjan Stevens…
I can’t say that anything I’m doing in the dance piece is this complicated (we leave that to the pros) but I think Incandescent is equally, if differently, lovely. Have a great week everyone!
