New Samples

Now that we are firmly into fall, a couple new season-appropriate samples have taken up residence in the shop…

Rocky Coast Cardigan by Hannah Fetig

A top-down seamless cardigan with wide ribbed bands that are meant to be left open, this is a great transitional-season sweater that can easily be thrown on to keep out the chill. I knit it in Berroco’s Ultra Alpaca, a worsted-weight blend of wool and alpaca, in their “Winter White” colourway to show off the all-over cable pattern. Despite this much cabling, it worked up swiftly thanks to the 6.5mm needles used for the majority of the body and sleeves.  More notes on and photos of my sweater are on my ravelry page here: http://www.ravelry.com/projects/whatthehay/rocky-coast-cardigan

Autumn Leaves Stole by Jared Flood

IMG_5526

This lovely stole (basically a rectangular shawl) encapsulates the autumnal spirit with its soft, tweedy texture, warm butternut colour, and leafy lace stitches. It’s knit up in Berroco’s Remix yarn, a blend of recycled fibers from the garment industry in France (nylon/cotton/acrylic/linen/silk). It’s wool-free, so it’s not too warm for pre-winter temperatures, but it’s also machine washable, which makes it a good choice for gift knitting. More pictures and notes are here: http://www.ravelry.com/projects/whatthehay/autumn-leaves-stole.
