30 Jul Lena Tee + Linen Dreams
If you’ve visited the shop over the last couple months, you might’ve caught me working on a light grey linen tee – the Lena Tee!
This is the Lena Tee by Carrie Bostick Hoge, knit in Louet’s Euroflax 100% Linen yarn in “Cloud Grey”.
This is a super simple pattern: two garter stitch panels knit flat for the front and back hem, and then joined in the round for the body, and then the front and back knit up flat from the underarm with another set of garter stitch panels just below the neckline.
The linen is a little rough in the hands while you’re knitting it, yes, but now that I’ve washed and dried (in the machine!!!) this a couple times, I totally understand why people knit with and wear linen in the summer: it’s light and cool and airy and drapey. I was watering my tomato plants this morning and the breeze goes right through this but the gauge is still tight enough to be totally modest and opaque.
Lucky for me (and you), Ravelry abounds with patterns specifically designed for light-weight linen:
Saco Stripes by Pam Allen – a simple summer classic with stripes!
Kit Camisole by Bristol Ivy – I love the 1920’s silhouette of this one!
Sparrow tank by Pam Allen – with the lovely button detail down the back!
Rue Shawl by Bristol Ivy – just in case you’re not feeling the knitted tank top vibe…
We have a beautiful range of linen colourways in stock right now and there’s a whoooole lot of summer left. Plus, my Lena Tee is going to live in the shop for a while, so come in and FEEL it to see why I’m so in love with linen right now! <3
