25 Aug Halo Shawl Knit Along with Custom Kits
As many of you may know, Jared Flood of Brooklyn Tweed recently released his first print book – Woolens. As a lover of BT here at the store, we are super excited about this new collection of patterns and have decided to do the Halo Shawl as a knit along.
Knit Along meet-ups will be with Sarah Gervais on Saturday Sept 10 and Saturday Sept 24 from 1 to 3pm and are free with yarn purchase. The pattern is also available for purchase here in store through Ravelry’s Local Yarn Store program.
So here’s the really cool part – we’re working with the lovely ladies at Ambrosia Yarns to bring you locally hand died kits designed specifically for this project using Fleece Artist’s fingering weight Blue Faced Leicester yarn base, BFL 2/8. Each kit will have enough yarn to do the larger version of the shawl. Stay tuned for more information on this exciting new product as the Knit Along dates approach.
Sarah has already started working up a sample in Debbie Bliss Fine Donegal and says that it’s a really interesting knit. The shawl starts in the middle with a circular cast-on (Sarah can help you with this!) and is knit outwards in the round. This would be a great project for those who are interested in trying out lace but want a bit of support. For the more experienced knitters, the construction will keep you engaged. The patterns also has instructions to customize the shawl for whatever size you like.
Hope to see you on September 10th!
