Baa Ram Ewe: From Yorkshire with Love

Fall is just around the corner and we’ve been getting wonderful new yarns in the store every week. We are especially excited to introduce Baa Ram Ewe from Yorkshire in the UK.

We’ve recently gotten a wide selection of colours in three lines: Dovestone Natural Aran, Dovestone DK, and Titus fingering weight.

Baa Ram Ewe takes great pride in the Yorkshire Roots and that region’s long tradition of excellence in wool production. These yarns have an unbelievably soft hand for 100% natural wool and a beautiful sheen.

Dovestone Natural Aran is a blend of sumptuous Bluefaced Leicester mixed with two Yorkshire sheep breeds, the Wensleydale and the Masham, and create a palette of five natural undyed shades in a cosy aran weight yarn.

Dovestone DK celebrates the Masham breed. Blending the fleece of the Bluefaced Leicester and Masham, along with the drape of the Wensleydale, creates something truly special. Soft yet robust and with a lovely woolly bounciness, Dovestone DK is perfect for sweaters, cardigans, accessories and home items.

Titus fingering weight is a delicious blend of Wensleydale and Bluefaced Leicester wool, combined with a touch of UK Alpaca in homage to philanthropist and Yorkshire mill owner Sir Titus Salt. This luxurious combination is reflected in the shade range: deep, rich colours that evoke images and memories of a land which has such strong historic connections to wool and wool manufacturing.

You’ll find several pattern book options in store for your perusal in support of these new yarns. Deanna and Sarah have also knit up a couple of samples, including this “Arika” cowl by Canadian designer Jane Richmond. This looks way harder to make than it actually is – a super chic 1 skein project that Deanna finished in just two days. The pattern can be purchased in store or on Ravelry.

We hope you’ll love Baa Ram Ewe as much as we do!

I came immediately into the store as soon as I got this newsletter. I bought some Titus and cannot wait to make some socks. Also signed up for the mitten class!

Hi Cindi! I really hope you enjoy the Titus. Please share your finished project with us on Facebook or Ravelry. As soon as I saw the samples I know we had to carry these yarns in the store. They are so soft, and as weird as it sounds, you really feel a connection to the sheep 🙂
