7th Annual Fibre Arts Festival and Sale
The Peterborough Hand Weavers’ and Spinners’ Guild’s 7th annual Fibre Arts Festival & Sale will take place at the Peterborough Sport and Wellness Centre, (located by Fleming College) 775 Brealey Drive, Peterborough, on Saturday, March 18, 2017, from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Entrance is $4.00 and Children 10 and under enter for free when accompanied by an adult.
The festival and sale will feature demonstrations, hands on activities, craft items 7 unique gifts for purchase, yarn, fibre and supplies available for purchase, and door prizes!
We’ll be there along with plenty of other local vendors and artisans and we’ll have some fun things for sale at our booth – including our debut of Malabrigo’s brand new yarn Dos Tierras.
Dos Tierras means Two Lands, reflecting the sources of the two amazing fibers found in this ultra-soft yarn. By spinning together 50% fine Uruguayan Merino wool with 50% baby alpaca from Peru, Malabrigo has created a DK weight yarn that is as versatile as it is beautiful. As usual it comes in a stunning palette and we’ll have 9 irresistible colourways to choose from.
To sweeten the deal we are offering a Fibre festival special kit for the Barnstable mosaic shawl: 3 skeins of Dos Tierras plus pattern for $88.26 (regular $103.84). This Kit and Dos Tierras will only be available at our Fibre Festival booth, and we’ll have a live sample for you to ogle as well.
We will also be bringing the very popular Katia Ombré shawl kits. Italian designer Alessandro Estrella recently shared a free pattern, Eivissa, which is a little more involved than simple garter stitch triangle that comes with the kit. We’ve done up a sample in the same colourway and it turned out wonderfully! We’ll be including a printed copy of this pattern with every kit sold. They’re a steal at $39.95 for six 25g balls of extrafine merino.
And if shawls don’t float your boat, you can always dive into a new pair of mitts with our Titus Pick n Mix kits, or a Fleece Artist Classic Thrum kit. Hope to see you there!
