    Brooklyn Tweed

    Loft

    $22.75

Fingering-weight Loft channels Targhee-Columbia wool’s airy bounce into feather-light lace, accessories, and garments. Like Shelter, Loft is a woolen-spun 2-ply yarn with delicate twist, specially designed for unique lightness of hand. It’s not a sock yarn, so treat it a little more gently when it’s on the winder and the needles. Once your garment is blocked, the stitches will cohere in a beautifully even and sturdy fabric. Lace garments should open up to reveal stitch motifs with relatively mild blocking. Loft has great flexibility of gauge; it can be knit on 2mm (US 0) needles for a dense and durable fabric or on 4mm (US 6) needles for ethereal open work. Two strands of Loft held together can substitute for Shelter in patterns where you’d like greater stitch definition or a marled fabric of two colors.

    Fibre:  100% Wyoming-grown Targhee-Columbia wool
    Gauge:  6 to 8 sts = 1"
    Recommended Needle:  2mm to 3.5mm
    Yardage:  275 yards
Weight:  approx. 50 grams | fingering weight
    Care:
Hand wash, lay flat to dry

    Peerie

    $20.00

Peerie is worsted-spun fingering weight yarn that was built for fine gauge fabrics and colourwork. The extensive palette of 45 painterly colors provides inspiration for projects small and large.

    Brooklyn Tweed
sourced pure Merino from Nevada and Utah — their finest fibre yet at 20.5 microns. Fabrics made from Peerie feel soft and supple against the skin.

The worsted-spun construction aligns the fibers horizontally to create a smooth yarn with just the right amount of twist and a perfect amount of bounce as you work. The 4-ply structure means textured stitches and lace sing as they are worked to create a fabric with excellent drape and stitch definition.

Skein-dyed in Maine, this yarn launches with 45 colors, about half of which are shared with Brooklyn Tweed's other worsted-spun core yarns, Arbor and Vale.

    YARN SPECS:
    Fingering weight, worsted-spun, 4-ply
    225 yds / 50 grams
    Micron count is 20.5

    mYak

    Baby Yak | Silk

    $18.00

The raw material is one of the rarest and most refined in the world—the soft undercoat of baby yaks and of Tibetan cashmere goats, which graze in the wild or semi-wild on the high altitude pastures of the Tibetan Plateau.

How does one treat this natural wonder? With the utmost respect for its natural origin and the artisanal skills involved in its processing. Starting with the pastures, which are controlled as to avoid animal overcrowding, to the collection of the down which is done through combing and not shearing.

No depigmentation and high-quality manufacturing, with carded spinning, reserved for the world’s most precious yarns.

mYak aims to combine sustainability, social responsibility, quality, and technology to create a unique experience that will change your way of thinking, creating, and knitting.

The Legendary Silk Road crossed Tibet. mYak wanted to pay homage to two Asian treasures.

mYak's 50% baby yak, 50% silk light fingering-weight blend has all of the best qualities of baby yak with the gorgeous sheen and drape of silk. We love the way these two fibers blend together to make a very special luxury yarn. It will bloom and drape, slink and shine. The result is a soft and light fabric perfect for your favorite warm weather garments and accessories. The fabric is strong enough to maintain your preferred cable and also flexible enough to hold its shape in lace. With colors inspired by the Tibetan Plateau, you are sure to find the right shade for your project.
