Add some Cheeky Merino Joy to your life
It’s that time of year where all kinds of new snuggly yarns are coming into the shop as we start to turn towards fall knits. One of our first new offerings is a sport weight called Cheeky Merino Joy, by Rosy Green Wool.
This yarn is cuddly soft, AND machine washable. Rosy Green uses extra fine Merino wool from Patagonia with 19.5 micron. It not only indulges all the senses but is good for the animals as well - from certified organic animal farming. Guaranteed to be free of painful mulesing, chemical sheep dips or lengthy slaughter transports.
Cheeky Merino Joy, and all Rosy Green Products are carefully made for quality you can feel. The yarn is spun just firmly enough so that it hardly splits while knitting and the finished garment pills as little as possible. Loosely dyed in the skein, the yarn becomes even softer and remains nice and elastic. Small facilities in Portugal and England produce the wool according to strict specifications - using only traditional machines and manual work.
All Rosy Green Wool yarns are Certified fair and pure. Their wool is 100% GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) certified. This means you can be certain that the production does not cause harm to either animals or humans. Fair working conditions, high environmental standards and only a small number of permitted chemicals are regularly inspected by independent organisations. For every single producer along the production chain. For example, Cheeky Merino Joy is made machine washable without using chlorine. The yarn smells good and is better for the skin.
Cheeky Merino Joy is a yarn you can feel good about working with and makes garments that are soft and cuddly next to your skin. There are lots of patterns to try in this yarn on Ravelry, but we’ve put together a short list of options that will help you get acquainted.
By the way… one of Deanna’s absolute favourites is another yarn by Rosy Green, Merino d’Arles. We have some lovely samples in the shop if you’d like to check it out as well.
