Cottage Country Yarn Crawl!
2018 marks the first ever Cottage Country Yarn Crawl and we couldn't be more excited!
For the uninitiated, yarn crawls are a fun way to introduce you to all the wonderful shops within a certain radius and to experience the unique ambience each one has to offer while: discovering new products, connecting with other fibre enthusiasts, and exploring the area with your fibre friends and family.
This particular yarn crawl is a group of local yarn shop owners who happen to live and work in some of the most scenic areas of Ontario's cottage country!
The Cottage Country Yarn Crawl is a self-guided tour, which will allow you to take your time and really plan out the route to suit your schedule. We don't expect you to do the crawl all in ONE day! That's why it has been set up over the summer months, so you can enjoy the laid back easy breezy lifestyle that is part of our cottage country charm. No rushing from store to store, just fit one or two into a day trip and then come back for more.
To kick things off, we are coordinating our yarn crawl start date with the Kawartha Yarn & Fibre Festival in Fenelon Falls on Saturday June 9th and the crawl runs until September 3rd. This is the inaugural year for the exciting one-day event showcasing a marketplace with seventy vendors and fibre artists. Event tickets can be purchased in advance by clicking on the KYAFF link provided.
Download and Print the #CCyarncrawl passport and bring it with you to the Kawartha Yarn and Fibre Festival to get a bonus stamp and receive an entry ballot for a chance to win a special prize for crawlers which will be drawn the same day! Keep your passport handy for whenever you are out and about in cottage country on the crawl route and just ask the yarn shop to stamp it for you plus receive a FREE limited edition crawl button to add to your bag bling collection. Each shop will also have a CLUE for you to knit the 'Group Of Eight' MYSTERY CRAWL COWL. The First clue for the cast on is available at Between 2 Lakes in Fenelon Falls so be sure to visit them when you're at KYFF. Collect all the clues and choose some of the unique colourways available in each shop for your project.
Click here to learn more about the crawl and all of the participating shops! You can also follow us on Facebook and Instagram and be sure to use the #ccyarncrawl tag when you make a post! We have also created a group on Ravelry to join! There's a general thread for Banter, as well as threads for your crawl stash, and WIPS and FOs.
We hope to see you on your yarn filled adventure this summer.
