Knit Along with Fibre Co. Luma!

Knit Along with Fibre Co. Luma!

Hi knitters, Deanna here.

Lots of you have commented on how much you love the Stonepoint Poncho and want to try working with the The Fibre Co’s newest yarn, Luma, so I thought this would be a great subject for our next knit along!

Luma is the perfect all season yarn! A beautiful blend of natural fibres, cotton and linen give it lightness, while wool adds spring, and silk adds a sutble sheen and softness. We’ve set this knit along up so that the projects will be completed in the early fall, just in time to wear your garments as the cooler weather is upon us.

We’ve brought in a wide array of colours especially for the knit along! The two projects I’m recommending are the Stonepoint Poncho or the Bennett Creek Pullover.

The poncho is knit in two rectangular panels using a simple lace pattern and are grafted together at the shoulder using the 3 needle bind off. Stitches are picked up to created the garter stitch collar.

Bennett Creek  is worked in pieces from the bottom up and then seamed. The back and sleeves are worked in reverse stockinette stitch, and the front is worked in reverse stockinette stitch with a large cable pattern up the center front.

Skills that you can learn in a friendly supportive environment:

  • Basic lace knitting
  • 3 needle bind-off
  • Cabling
  • Picking up stitches
  • Reading charts
  • Seaming using mattress stitch

Hi there,
I have just moved to Peterborough and recently retired and would like to learn how to knit. I am beyond the beginner class but just. I want to learn how to knit a sweater android a chart. I have started a sweater many times but am lost when it comes to shaping the armholes. I want to learn how to cable and do patterns.

Any plans for classes for people like me, or is there a group of knitters working on different projects that I could join?

Thank you.
