&Make: One Stitch at a Time
We couldn't be more excited to share the launch of The Fibre Co.'s new yarn range, &Make. Gorgeous, price-sensitive natural yarns.
Why Now?
The Fibre Co. team saw an article in a UK national newspaper at the end of last year about the impact the pandemic had on the home craft scene. What really caught their attention was the statistic that one million new knitters had picked up needles during 2020-2021 in the UK alone. And this is not the first time the industry has seen a rise in popularity when things get tougher financially.
As a company that prides itself on the highest quality all-natural fibre yarns, The Fibre Co. knew they might not be the new knitter's first choice. But they felt every knitter should have the chance to knit with The Fibre Co., so they set about creating a more price-sensitive alternative that was just as beautiful.
About &Make
This yarn is for stitchers at every stage of their crafting journey who want to work with 100% natural, sustainable fibres from renewable sources. &Make has a stunning full palette of cheerful brights and nuanced shades created by overdyeing a range of naturally light and dark coloured fibres.
&Make has a choice of weights making it the perfect range of yarns for all crafters' dream projects: be it the plump, round stitches of the Super Bulky yarn which works up with satisfying speed, or the Aran weight made with a blend of soft alpaca and Peruvian Highland wool, or the DK version, with fantastically crisp stitch definition for those beautiful textured stitch patterns.
These accessible yarns are designed to bring joy to every stitch whether it is for a sweater, accessory, or homeware project.
We are bringing in the Super Bulky Weight first, and the Aran weight will follow in October.
But How?
So how can &Make yarns be 35% less expensive than the Fibre Co.'s luxury range and still be natural fibre yarns? The answer is that they've have made careful fibre choices to optimize the look and feel of &Make yarns. It was important for them to stay true to their passion for creating yarns from sustainable resources.
Through a close working relationship with The Fibre Co.'s Peruvian mill, together they designed yarns that replaced higher priced fibres with quality Peruvian Highland wool, fine spinning alpaca and crisp linen to create yarns of a high standard and character but at a lower price point.
&Make Patterns
&Make is being launched with three clean, minimalist designs ideal for beginners in Super Bulky, Aran and DK-weight yarns. The Warm and Easy Hat, Gridland Scarf and Purls of Wisdom Sweater can be knit in any of the three yarns.
The new easy-to-follow pattern styling was developed especially for &Make, with easy-to-follow instructions, links to tutorials and illustrations.
