Meet our New Team!

Meet our New Team!

Hey Everybody! Deanna Here. I have some news to share – we have a new team at Needles in the Hay!

I’d like to start by thanking both Sarah Gervais and Sarah Lazure for all of their hard work and dedication. When I purchased the store last year, they were so helpful in getting things off the ground and creating a great atmosphere in the shop. Sarah Gervais has moved to Brockville for a new position at the Brockville Museum, and Sarah Lazure has decided to start some new courses in the fall.

I am pleased to say that we received many applications to fill their rather large shoes, and I am excited to introduce our new team members.

On Tuesdays and Wednesdays you’ll be able to meet Grace. She is experienced in many different fibre arts and is your specialist for crochet, needle felting, and wet felting. Here are a few words from Grace:

“Hi!  I’m Grace Mahoney and I love fibre and colour.  I have been crocheting and knitting for decades and have moved into using fibre in my artistic life. I experiment with hand weaving, felting and embroidery.  I operate my own home studio called Living in Colour.  I believe that needle work is good for keeping our brains and hands active as well as being a great relaxation tool.  I am so excited to be working at Needles in the Hay and look forward to helping you discover your next project.”

Ethan is holding down the fort on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.  He is what I would describe as a “super-knitter”, there’s nothing he can’t do. He knits up sweaters at record speed and is really adept at modifying patterns to ensure the best fit. Here’s a few words from Ethan:

“Hay There! My name is Ethan Barclay-Ennew and I am a passionate hand-knitter. I have been knitting since I was four and love creating hand knits both from established patterns and from my own head. Cables, lace, brioche, and sweaters are a few of my favourite knitting things. I am perennial student and always looking to learn more about knitting and everything in life. I can’t wait to see you all and help you with new and ongoing projects so please stop by to visit whenever I am at Needles in the Hay.”

I will continue to be at the store on Tuesdays from 6 to 9 for the Purlez-Vous knitting social and on Sundays from 12 to 4.  I hope you’ll all join me in welcoming Grace and Ethan – I know you’ll love them as much as I do!

Now is the perfect time to come and visit – we have many great products on clearance for 40% off to make room for new product in the fall.  Get great deals on Shibui, Baa Ram Ewe Dovestone Aran and Dk, Cardiff cashmere, Debbie Bliss, Berroco and more! Here’s a little video preview – can you spot your next project?
