Spring Knit Along 2022
My fellow knitters, it’s time.
Time to push aside the toques and mittens, to put away the bulky weights and even that oh-so squishy worsted.
Sweater weather is officially over.
But fear not-all this growing grass doesn’t spell the end of the knitting season. Spring, after all, is about ushering in the new.
At Needles in the Hay, we’re taking that philosophy and applying it to some new yarns we have in our store-and maybe a few you haven’t tried yet.
We wanted our Spring Knit Along to focus on patterns that would work with the warm weather as it rolled in, and feature yarns that would hold up even under that hot summer sun.
And that took us straight to our cotton section.
Cotton is a go-to fibre for the warmer months.
It’s breathable, wearable, durable and to top it all off we have a few different lines in store that we’re excited to share with you.
Our first recommendation is Puno Winikunka, a fingering-weight cotton/alpaca blend from Peru.
Though Puno is one of the newest yarns to our shop, its dazzling array of colours and pattern versatility has made it a big seller already.
A piece of advice-if you want to use this yarn for the KAL, we recommend ordering NOW to be sure you get the colour and amount that you want.
We’re also suggesting the following patterns to help get you started:

Matutina Tee

Our second yarn suggestion is Sole, a wonderfully decadent combination of organic Pima Cotton from Peru and organic Cashmere from Mongolia. The result of this luxurious blend is a Sport Weight yarn with off-the-hook stitch definition that works just as well for textured knitting as it does for simple garments in stockinette stitch. The following patterns are just a few that highlight some of Sole’s best qualities:

Kick back at the end of your day with your needles, your project and your beverage of choice!
As with all our KALs, you don’t have to use these yarns or patterns to participate in the KAL. But we do ask that you use yarns purchased from Needles in the Hay.
We also suggest you try something new. Knit Alongs are all about learning, sharing and exposing yourself to new techniques and new fibres. And a fresh new season is the perfect time to do it!
