Processed in a mill in England’s historical textile region of West Yorkshire, Lore is made of 100% lambswool from the Romney sheep breed also referred to locally as Kent lamb.
It is a woollen spun DK weight yarn that blooms into a beautiful knitted fabric after washing. Garments made from Lore will wear well and are perfect for everyday and special adventures alike.
Two years in the making, Lore was inspired by an afternoon the Fibre Co's founder, Daphne, spent taking apart an old sweater that she knitted in the 1980s and reassembling it to suit her style now.
Throughout the hours spent re-engineering this sweater, Daphne couldn’t help but reflect on the memories knitted into that sweater: the person she bought the yarn for, the reason why she chose to knit something for herself instead and the friend who told her not to knit all those bobbles (she did it anyway!)
The whole experience was incredibly emotional and nostalgic and led Daphne to create a classic, heathered lambswool yarn that reminded her of the yarn she used for that sweater. She wanted to create something that others could knit their own stories into. Lore is named to honour the stories we create with wool. Great stories happen to those who knit them.
