Albertine is a 4 ply, worsted spun yarn made from the precious fleece of Merinos d'Arles, raised in organic farming near Aureille in Provence, France, and a touch of silk from south of Shanghai.

The silk gives this fine and exceptionally elastic 21.5 micron wool a discreetly satiny sheen and a very nice drape. Just the right amount of silk to make each stitch a soft little luxury...

These very fine fibres are combed into ribbons to increase their softness and strength, and then spun in the Biella region of Italy, as no spinning mill in France today is capable of spinning such fine combed yarn. The four ribbons are twisted together to create a four ply yarn, dyed in Creuse, France.

The result is a harmonious yarn, round and strong, soft and subtly satiny. Its softness, drape and definition make it perfect for knitting fine layette, a slightly precious jumper, pretty lace shawls and anything else you want to wear next to your skin.

Albertine is named after the feminine character of À la recherche du temps perdu by Marcel Proust.
