Join us and take the next step on your knitting journey with this two-day class designed to take your knitting skills to the next level! This class is perfect for knitters who are already confident with Knit and Purl stitches and are ready to tackle knitting in the round, basic shaping, and textured stitches.

In this class we’ll make the Tiilda Hat

What You'll Learn:

Over three sessions, you will gain confidence in essential knitting techniques, including:

  • Long Tail Cast-On and Joining in the Round.

  • Reading a knitting chart and increasing stitches.

  • Making a basic cable.

  • Shaping the hat crown using decreases (K2tog, P2tog) and mastering Double Pointed Needles (DPNs).

  • Troubleshooting common mistakes like picking up a dropped stitch and 'tinking' (knitting backwards).

  • Discussion on yarn weights, fibre properties, how to read a ball band, understanding gauge and negative vs. positive ease.

  • Tools of the trade-what you should have in your project bag

  • Blocking- what is it, and why we do it

Materials Required (not included):

Please bring or purchase in advance: 4mm and 5mm 16” circular needles (MUST be 16” length), 5mm Double Pointed needles, a large darning needle, 1 cable needle, 100g of Chunky yarn (Recommended: Cyrano, Soft Donegal Chunky, Fritidsgarn or Pure Tweed), and round stitch markers. If you are a tight knitter you may want to consider sizing up your needles.

Pre-Requisites: All class participants must be confident in both knit and purl stitches. This class is designed to take the next step in knitting and assumes that participants are already familiar with the basics.
